It’s been a year since we moved to Hannibal, MO from Kentucky and has brought gobs of changes. We’ve been in our first house for a year, existed as a one-car family as a year, had Sophie for a year (we love you, So!), Dan’s been pastoring for a year and teaching Bible at a private middle school for a semester, and I’ve been living without an appendix for about 9 months (I haven’t missed it, in case you were wondering). Crazy, crazy, crazy! Well, my hope is that I’ll be better about keeping this thing updated, especially with pictures of Jujubee1 and Jujubee2. I’m going to go ahead and reward my faithful readers (including those I text to say that I finally updated our blog) with some pictures from last December. That’s right, last December. There are more to come. And I might update our About page. Happy Trails!

With this whole light bedrest thing that I’m on because I’d progressed a little when I went in to the OB this week, Dan has been going and getting Dinah out of her crib in the mornings and bringing her back to our bed to cuddle and play for a minute before we all get up. Don’t be fooled: it’s pretty much all playing and exploring for Dinah. She’s too busy to cuddle. And there’s usually some bodily sacrifice involved on the part of mommy and daddy. This morning, she backhanded me in the eye and then sneezed on my face before trying to launch herself off the side of the bed. It’s both a cruel and sweet way to wake up in the morning.

I have reading glasses. After Dinah was born, I noticed that my vision wasn’t as superb as it once was. This could have had nothing to do with Dinah’s birth and everything to do with me getting older. Dunno. Nonetheless, I went to see Dr. Kelli who gave me a rockin’ prescription and since then, I pretty faithfully wear them for all sight-intensive activities (computer work, reading, knitting, etc).

Fast forward to this week and my lovely sinus infection. Since I haven’t been wearing glasses that long, I’m really unused to blowing my nose with them on my face (I tend to wear my glasses a little lower on my nose). It feels really awkward and like there’s a battle going on on my face. Plus, I can’t stand ANY smudges on my glasses and we buy Puffs with Lotion because we’re spoiled nose-blowers (the only thing better than those tissues are the ones with menthol–delicious!). And I’m blowing my nose constantly. I usually will take off my glasses prior to blowing my nose, but with all of this nose-blowing activity, I think I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t have to anymore, mostly out of necessity and laziness.

This might be the silliest and least useful post ever.

Do not buy liquid detergent whose packaging is smashed/smooshed on the bottom and do not treat liquid detergent as if it were indestructible by banging it around during the transition from shelf to cart, cart to car, and car to laundry room floor (who am I kidding? It sat by the front door for at least a day or two). You will end up with a sticky blue puddle on your laundry room (ours is more of an exaggerated closet) floor that you will notice but will have to wait a week to clean up because you just don’t really have the time/motivation. It will get all over the laundry basket and ironing board foot that you have next to it. It will take you 1/2 a roll of paper towels and 1/4 cup of vinegar to clean up. But your precious baby girl will be a peach and stay playing out of the way the entire time.
