What are the odds of that?
November 14th 2007 by Jen in UncategorizedOn Sunday night, we made our way back to Louisville from St. Louis. Dan went fishing with his dad and brother-in-law at Montauk State Park in Missiouri. When we walked into our apartment with our bags, we heard two strange noises: a strange mechanical sound coming from deeper inside of our apartment and a vibrating noise coming from one of our bags. The noise from the bag was not scary, considering the electronics that we carry with us on a regular basis. The noise from inside our apartment was very ominous because it could have been a person, an animal, some horrible water leak, etc. Dan cautiously crept down the hallway with his trusty Maglite poised to both illuminate and attack (they’re heavy and metal and could do much damage). I stood by the door, worried and intrigued, waiting for the answer. Dan cocked his head toward each of the rooms, listening intently for the origin of the noise until he ultimately squared off toward the bathroom to face the noisy menace. He quizzically stepped forward as I asked “What? What is it? Is there a water leak?,” picturing ruined tile, plaster, and massively inconvenient maintenance work. Chuckles erupted from my sweet protector, then “Jen! Come here.” He hastily came out of the bathroom and strode into the living room where our bags sat and a noise still emanated. I scurried into the bathroom to find my razor (one of those Venus Vibrance battery-powered razors) turned on and laying upside down near the drain, rocking back and forth. I turned it off, laid it on the side of the tub and peered out into the living room to ask Dan what the other noise was. He gleefully lifted up his own still-buzzing razor (the man version) from his travel bag and with much dismay asked “What are the odds of that?”
